Following on from the release of Gus Till’s new album Ghosts of the Earth Interchill presents an ep of remixes from Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy’s System 7 and Mirror System, Gus & Cozi Till’s Zen Lemonade and Seb Taylor’s project Hibernation. The tunes here combine minimality with details from the source tracks for a different spin on Gus Till’s material. In line with the album Ghosts of the Earth this ep is packed full of potent hybrids that defy genres and elevate the senses.
Biographies:
System 7’s Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy have had a strong influence on the birth of psychedelic dance music and it’s journey up to the present, forging a unique and bang up-to-date identity on the genre map, in a space where techno, progressive and trance meet – with a healthy side-element of unique quality ambient chill. Since the beginning of the 90s System 7 projects have been marked by a series of high powered collaborations, working with Detroit luminaries Derrick May and Carl Craig, Laurent Garnier, The Orb, Jam El Mar, Son Kite among others. They are currently preparing a System 7 and Mirror System dual album release for 2015, celebrating the 21st anniversary of their seminal Fire and Water dual album release of 1994.

Mirror System (A-Wave Records) is the downtempo and chillout project of System 7's Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy. The distinctive Mirror System sound is based on deep rolling grooves and the subtle blend of rich dreamy electronica and guitar. Mirror System’s successful debut album was released in 2005. They have recently expanded their style to incorporate a soft minimal tech-house element, and in 2010 released a Mirror System DJ mix album Reflector, including remixes and collaborations with Tripswitch, Jam el Mar and Bluetech. When performing live Mirror System can adapt their style for a deep chill set or a much more danceable groove – or a unique blend of the two.

Zen Lemonade is the alternative electronic music unit of Gus Till & Supercozi. They began making music together in Tokyo at the beginning of 2000 creating their own uniquely fusioned and genre bending sound. Soon afterward they moved to England, setting up base in Devon where they forged their debut album "Lemon Soul " - This was released in 2002 on Youth's Dragonfly Label and immediately garnered critical acclaim. This saw them invited to play festivals/ gigs all over the world from Athens to Mexico, Australia, Japan and Moscow. In 2002 they moved to Bali. This mystic place's magnificent charm, it's rich Hindu/animist culture and its cultural traditions of music/gamelans, dance and art made a distinct impression upon them. Since settling in Bali they have been amazingly productive, Gus and Cozi both having produced a few solo albums and several downtempo compilations, and Zen Lemonade’s second full studio / down beat album, Babylondon released on Electronic Soundscapes. In 2013-14, they released a few ep’s of Psy-Tech Trance tunes with remixes by James Monro, Man Made Man etc, and proved that they are ready to deliver the next model of psychedelic dance grooves that only they can make.

Hibernation is the creation of Seb Taylor. With a distinct sonic palette that includes stand up bass, muted trumpet, brush drums, glitches, womps and warm subs the Hibernation sound is crucial listening. The first Hibernation album, Some Things Never Change, was released on Aleph Zero in 2008. Seb followed this up with an album release on Interchill entitled Second Nature in 2012. Hibernation, as the name suggests, heads inwards and locks onto micro edits, quirky samples, glitches and hyper-fine details. Here at Interchill we've been fans of Seb's work for years, and Hibernation is some of the best and most timeless downtempo music around. Seb Taylor has been producing for more than 20 years under a number of aliases; Shakta, Kaya Project, Hibernation, Digitalis, Chaos by Design, SE23, Radiate, and Subterfuge. An accomplished guitar player, Seb also plays the tzoura, zheng, banjoud, harmonica, hammered dulcimer, hang drum, various percussion, flute as well as the occasional vocal. Seb has performed around the world at clubs, parties and festivals; from fear and loathing style scenes in yakuza clubs in Tokyo to the over the top craziness of Shambhala in BC's Kootenay mountains, from Mad Max doofs in the dusty Australian desert to the fabled beaches of Goa. When he's not travelling Seb can be found in the studio in Brighton UK; composing music for film and TV.
