Journey to the Sun is the seminal ambient album from Canadian producer Adham Shaikh. Born out of soundbytes and samples Adham recorded on his travels throughout India, this timeless classic is the second release from Interchill's global ambient spectrum series.
Originally released by Instinct Records in 1996, Journey to the Sun reflects Adham's meanderings and impressions of an ancient civilization on the brink of modernization. As a fusion of western technology with eastern tribal mysticism, the music weaves together a rich tapestry of electronic textures with tanpur, bansuri flute, harmonium, sitar, and tabla. Layered with a number of field recordings he made on a dat recorder, each track on this album is itself a journey into aural vistas and mysterious terrain.
